Apple, Inc. Is Responsible For Creating And Supporting Over 500,000 Jobs In The USA Alone. Could Be Much Higher With The ‘Right’ Political Administration In Place.
If the Obama Administration would allow the repatriation of Apple’s $60+ billion ( and other companies like Cisco etc.) sitting offshore, at a reasonable tax rate, imagine how many more jobs Apple could be responsible for in the USA.
Apple: 514,000 U.S. Jobs Created Or Supported. From www.appadvice.com
While Apple has taken criticism for outsourcing and working conditions of its factories in China, it has introduced a new page on its website touting the jobs directly or indirectly created by the company in the United States.
First spotted by AllThingsD, the page includes some interesting statistics about the company’s workforce in the U.S:
“Throughout our history, Apple has created entirely new products — and entirely new industries — by focusing on innovation. As a result, we’ve created or supported more than 500,000 jobs for U.S. workers: from the engineer who helped invent the iPad to the delivery person who brings it to your door.â€
Apple says there are more than 304,000 U.S. jobs supported by Apple. That includes 47,000 jobs at Apple itself and 257,000 positions at other companies, like workers who build iOS processors in Texas and Corning employees who create Gorilla Glass for the iPhone and iPad.
The number of Apple jobs has quadrupled from less than 10,000 in 2002.
The other positions in the U.S. come from a familiar place at AppAdvice – the app economy. Apple says there are more than 210,000 app economy jobs domestically, thanks in large part to more than $4 billion paid to developers from App Store sales.
Apple also breaks down its retail store workforce domestically. There are 27,350 retail store employees at 246 stores in 44 states. Each store averages more than 100 jobs per location, with most being full time.
What do you think about Apple taking a more vocal stance on jobs created by the company domestically?
