Market Intelligence For Traders And Investors, Week Of January 2, 2012

[ 0 ] January 2, 2012 |

The DAX closed up just about 3% today. This could be a good sign for tomorrow and the week to come here in the USA.

US markets will be closed today for the New Year’s Day holiday, but it doesn’t matter much seeing as how the real show isn’t until Friday when the major European countries and the US release their employment information. Recent jobs information from the US has suggested an economic recovery is beginning, with the lowest Jobless Claims number since April 2008 coming the week before Christmas. On Tuesday we find out just how close the FOMC came to initiating quantitative easing in December after FOMC member Charles Evans voted to initiate more bond purchases.

Key earnings reports to watch are commodity producers Monsanto (MON) and Mosaic (MOS), beaten-down supply company Texas Industries (TXI), and Apollo (APOL).
